MODEL V720

CONVERTER
VME MODULE
The V720 is a six-channel logic-level electrical-to-optical converter, packaged as a single-width, 6U VME module. It may be used with compatible Highland optical receiver modules for fast, low-jitter, EMI-proof distribution of pulses, triggers, and precision timing signals.

MODEL V720 VME ELECTRICAL/OPTICAL CONVERTER SPECIFICATIONS
INPUT
User-switchable per channel for logic level, normal/invert, and hi-Z/50-ohm
terminated. Levels are TTL, NIM, ECL, and adjustable.
Available with SMA, SMB, or Lemo connectors.
Channels may be clustered to allow each electrical input to drive up to six optical outputs.
OUTPUT
V720-1 version- 850 nm: 1 mW optical power into 62/125 micron multimode optical fiber.
V720-3 version-1310 nm. 1mW optical power into 9/125 micron singlemode optical fiber
V720-5 version-1550 nm: 1mW optical power into 9/125 micron singlemode optical fiber
Standard fiber connectors are ST.
TIMING
Propagation delay below 2 ns.
Jitter below 5 ps RMS.
Bandwidth DC - 1 GHz min.
GATE One common electrical GATE input may be used to enable/disable all lasers. Logic level, polarity, and termination are user selectable.
ENABLE A front panel SAFE/ENABLE toggle switch allows power to be removed from all lasers.
POWER
The module receives power from the VME backplane; it does not connect to the VME data bus, and passes all grant signals.
The V720 may be used standalone with the optional model J190 power supply.
